About the film
From Iowa and Back: The Vietnam Era is an Iowa documentary film preserving the firsthand stories of Vietnam-era veterans from communities across the state. Through personal interviews, the film explores their experiences before, during, and after their military service and documents a generation whose stories are rapidly being lost to history.
Intentions and Motivation
Inspired by his father, John Glazier, a Vietnam-era veteran, filmmaker Jeremy Glazier began From Iowa and Back as a deeply personal mission to preserve veterans’ stories before they disappear. After his father’s passing, that mission became even more urgent. By traveling across Iowa and recording veterans in their own words, Glazier is creating a lasting record of experiences that might otherwise be lost — stories of service, sacrifice, homecoming, family, and life after the Vietnam War.
A Visual Journey
From Iowa and Back brings Iowa veterans’ stories to life through intimate interviews, documentary photography, and firsthand accounts of military service and coming home. The film has been presented at theaters, veterans organizations, community events, and special screenings across Iowa. About Jeremy Glazier
Jeremy Glazier is an Iowa filmmaker, photographer, and storyteller whose work focuses on documenting people and preserving their stories. As the filmmaker behind From Iowa and Back: The Vietnam Era, he has traveled across Iowa interviewing and photographing Vietnam-era veterans in their homes and communities. His documentary work combines portrait photography, oral history, and film to create an intimate record of the people and experiences that might otherwise disappear with time.
