Live music has been at the center of my photography for years. From intimate clubs and historic theaters to casinos, festivals, and large-scale music venues, I photograph the energy, atmosphere, and moments that make live music memorable.

My work has taken me to venues throughout Iowa and beyond, photographing artists in very different live environments—from Charles Wesley Godwin at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles and Candlebox at the Troubadour, to the Toadies and Reverend Horton Heat at Knuckleheads in Kansas City. In Iowa, I’ve photographed concerts at venues including Live Nation’s Vibrant Music Hall, the Hinterland Music Festival in St. Charles, casinos throughout the state, and intimate rooms such as Woolys and xBk in Des Moines. I also work regularly with Not Quite Brothers, documenting the band at performances and venues throughout Iowa and the Midwest.

My approach to concert photography goes beyond documenting who was onstage. I look for the connection between artist and audience, the atmosphere of the room, the details between songs, and the moments that give each performance its identity. The goal is to create photographs that tell the story while giving artists, venues, festivals, promoters, and publications images they can continue using long after the show.

Based in Iowa, I am available for concert photography, festival coverage, artist and band photography, promotional photography, behind-the-scenes coverage, and other music-related assignments throughout Iowa and beyond.
